In recent times, a handful of Insight clients stated that a portion of their SIPP funds had been reallocated into an offshore hotel development project, called The Resort Group, located on the island of Cape Verde.
Although Insight Financial Associates initially rejected such claims, the Financial Ombudsman later ordered that it was required to pay compensation.
The Resort Group is a luxury hotel property developer based in Cape Verde. A number of financial advice firms encouraged people to transfer their pension into a SIPP investment tied to The Resort Group and 4 luxury hotels with the promise they’ll make significant sums of money.
However, this didn’t prove to be the case for many people unfortunately. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme revealed that they’ve already paid-out £5.9 in compensation related to The Resort Group.
